John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County is a public, 464-bed teaching hospital located in Chicago, Illinois. Opened in 2002, it continues the legacy of the historic Cook County Hospital, established in 1832. As the flagship hospital of the Cook County Health system, it serves as a Level I Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center, providing comprehensive medical care, including specialty services, emergency care, and primary care, to all residents of Cook County, regardless of their ability to pay. It is academically affiliated with Rush University Medical Center.
