Porterville Developmental Center

The Porterville Developmental Center, originally established as Porterville State Hospital in 1953, was a state-run residential facility in Porterville, California, dedicated to providing comprehensive care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It offered a wide range of medical, psychological, educational, vocational, and therapeutic services. The center officially ceased admitting new residents in 2007 and completed its closure, transferring its last residents, in December 2014. The facility is no longer operational as a developmental center, and its property is now managed by the California Department of General Services.
