Diabetes Insipidus
๐Overview
This condition occurs when the body's fluid regulation system malfunctions, often resulting from a deficiency of antidiuretic hormone or the kidneys' inability to respond to it. Although it shares a name with diabetes mellitus, it is a separate disorder focused on water balance rather than blood glucose management.
The underlying process involves a disruption in the production or action of vasopressin, which is the hormone responsible for signaling the kidneys to conserve water. This interference leads to the continuous elimination of fluids, which may cause significant imbalances in body water levels.
